Power Tools for Women

Power tools aren’t just for men, that is a thing of the past. Women use power tools all the time now. The use of power tools by women has evolved as the family structure changed over time. Women have become more independent and the chores of the household have become less divided by gender.

While women can operate most any power tool, there are some out there designed specifically for women to use. Don’t worry, they aren’t pink and cute! The Barbara K line features a cordless drill that is very light, yet very powerful. The cordless power screwdriver is the best selling power tool of the line. It is light weight and very easy to use.

The Unbelievable Saw is a hand saw for women that is great for cutting limbs. This saw cuts well and is simple to use. It is also light weight. Women enjoy doing home projects, and finding the right tool can be hard. Black and Decker offers the Project Mate. It is a three in one tool – featuring a scraper, detail sander, and a screwdriver. It doesn’t weight much, fits in the palm of a lady’s hand, and fits in small spaces.

Wrenches can be difficult to maneuver in some areas. Craftsman has the Flex Wrench set in both standard and metric, with seven sizes of wrenches. They are great for getting into tight spaces. They also help give you some added strength to loosen or tighten anything.

A screwdriver is an essential tool for any woman to have. You never know when it will come in handy. Snap-on has the PentaGrip screwdriver that is amazing. It has a button on the top so you can lock the head into position. The handle is designed for smaller hands and has a soft grip.

Pliers to extract nails makes them a piece of cake to remove. It also prevents you from cutting your hands up on any sharp ones. They work great of headless nails too. These pliers are easy to use and easy to grip. The jaws are designed to increase the amount of force on the nail if you encounter some stubborn ones.

The idea of power tools for women is catching on. Five ladies from the University of Kansas are in the process of creating an entire line of power tools for women called Savvy tools. The line is meant to make power tools a more comfortable fit for women in the hopes of promoting safety and making them less intimidating. Bulky power tools are often hard for women to use. The first two power tools are in the works and even have names, Sandra Dee the Sander and Donna the Drill.

Power tools for women that are designed to help them complete projects are anticipated to sell well. Those manufacturers who take this market demand seriously are going to be able to profit from such products. The key is going to be conducting research and finding out what types of power tools women use and asking what they like and don’t like about them. Women don’t want just a smaller version of the power tools out there or the color changed to something pretty. They want power tools that are easy to use and get the job done.

The Changing Face Of Diy Stores

DIY stores have changed massively over the last 20yrs. In fact the very Term DIY did not have the same impact to our lives then, as it does now. Back then when you visited your local hardware store, you spoke to the hardware man over a counter, I say man deliberately, who would then walk into their stores area, try to find your requirements from a very limited choice. Now modern DIY stores are all self selection, contain up to 20,000 lines in stock, covering just about every subject and tools, and you’re just as likely to be served by teenagers, pensioners, male or female than the perceived hardware man.

This change has not just occurred by accident, but to adjust to peoples needs over the years. Now more people than ever own his or her own home, there is a greater need to be different and to have a home to be proud of and of course DIY has become a national hobby.

Labour costs can now outweigh the cost of the products; in fact many prices of some products are actually cheaper than 10yrs ago, yet labour charges have increased several times over. When you consider the differences its not surprising that many more of us are attracted to saving our hard earned money by doing it ourselves. There is a more subtle change though. That is, DIY is now ruled by the female gender. Large organisations now understand that it is the ladies who make most of the decisions relating to the home and this is shown constantly in its customer base. In fact DIY is now a fashion business, with even top fashion designers, designing wallpapers and specific paint colours. The stores are set up to complete a project; say a bathroom or living room. Not just the paint but also the matching wallpaper, rug, furniture, pictures and accessories.

Of course we see our gardens as an extension of our home now also. Plastic furniture is being replaced with wood and aluminum and the barbeque has grown in size to feed the whole street.

Plants are also colour coordinated, and designed to a specific plan that compliments the outside of the home.

They say our home is our castle, but it is now more than that. We now aim for our homes to be our palaces, a place to live our lives to the full, and it seems the DIY store is a favorite place to achieve that.

The Rising Trend Of Do It Yourself

Within the last few years, America has become a do-it-yourself type of country. From television to books to magazines, the people in the U.S. have decided to help themselves with the projects that need to be done at home instead of hiring someone to do it for them. The reasons for becoming a “do-it-yourselfer” are many and people have found that DIY is the answer to many issues. Taking on a project at home yourself can be very advantageous. Many people do DIY to save money by tackling household projects. Some “do-it yourselfers” are such because it helps them to be able to flip houses, a popular way to make money, without hiring a contractor. Others are “do-it-yourselfers” in order to make money as a handyman, doing projects for people who can’t do it on their own. One more reason “diyers” do what they do is to improve the value of their own homes.

Some people are “do-it-yourselfers” because it saves them a great deal of money. Generally, contractors can be expensive when fixing something that you, for the price of materials, could accomplish. Paying someone materials plus labor tends to put a giant whole in one’s check book. By doing small projects around your house as things need doing, two things can occur. One, you can put away the money you might spend needlessly on professionals and save it for something that you really need or want. The money can even go toward making upgrades to your house that you would not be able to afford otherwise. For example, a “do-it-yourselfer” can install a tile floor for the cost of having a professional install a vinyl floor. This would be an upgrade. Two, if you learn to do something on your own, the knowledge will most likely come in handy again if the problem arises at another time in the future.

Another reason “do-it-yourself” has become popular over time is because of the popular rise of people flipping houses. With the recently strong real estate market, many people have picked up the task of buying houses that need fixing up, fixing them, and selling them for a sizeable profit. A way that doing projects themselves comes in is that people can save money so that their profit margin is much larger. Using a contractor on only large jobs that are dangerous or require training to execute is a smart way to make money and in many cases, helps the flipper to take more pride in a project.

Sometimes, a person’s reason for becoming a “do-it-yourselfer” is to make money being a handyman and helping someone else. Many times, people can not afford to hire a professional contractor and can not do the work themselves. In this case, they will call a handyman to be able to do what ever work is needed around the house. Many people make good money off of being the local neighborhood handyman. When work is done to a satisfactory degree, word of mouth will generally fill up the calendar of the handyman who has done the work.

One more advantage to becoming a person with “DIY” experience is the fact that tackling projects at home can definitely add value to your house and property. Texturing the rooms in your house or removing dated popcorn ceilings, for example can drastically change the look and value of your house, no matter how old it is.

Whatever the reason for the changing wave of “DIY”, it has definitely become a trend. Stores like Home Depot, Lowe’s, and Ace Hardware have seen a marked rise in customers coming in to take on bigger and more difficult projects. Whatever the motivation, “DIY” is very advantageous in many ways.

Stop Paying High Interest On Your Credit Cards And Start Eliminating The Debt

Spending beyond your means is something you are being programmed to do. Look around you at adverts on TV, junk mail through your door, spam email in your inbox and just about everywhere there is advertising space.

We are all being encouraged to live beyond our means and spend more than we earn. Why on earth would the banks and credit companies want us to become in debt and stay that way for as long as possible? Shouldn’t they be helping us make good financial decisions and develop responsible spending habits?

Well when it comes to their profit margins, priorities are firmly on getting us to pay as much interest over the longest period of time possible. In some cases they even build consumer profiles of us based on criteria such as how much we earn, how much we spend, what patterns we follow and how likely we are to overstretch ourselves.

Armed with this very useful information they aggressively market lending products to us with every intention of drawing us into debt paying them interest for as long as possible.

So when they’ve created the debt situation and we find ourselves looking for ways out what options do we have then? Cue the debt management, consolidation loan and ‘bad credit’ lenders. There is a multibillion dollar industry preying on debt ridden consumers looking for relief. It’s not a pretty picture for the poor consumer.

We just want to live life the way we’re supposed to. We get up – go to work – work hard – pay taxes – pay the bills and generally do what we’re told. We’re entitled to sleep well at night and have a bright outlook on our futures. Why are we being ensnared into lives of misery and stress and going without?

Is it our fault that we take up the tempting offers of credit and living beyond our means? We trust the institutions that look after our money. We expect them to give us sound financial advice with our futures in mind. We regard them as caring service providers to whom we entrust our earnings with an implicit confidence that we are doing the right thing.

Well knowing what I know now I don’t trust them anymore. I didn’t ask for the credit card they sent me, I didn’t ask for the overdraft limit extension they doubled. I didn’t even ask for the consolidation loan they conveniently offered me when my repayments were starting to overstretch me.

So all I can to do now to fight back is make an effective DIY credit card debt busting plan tailored to my unique financial situation. It’s no fun having to budget and go without. When used to the ‘spend now worry later’ way of living, having to turn a full corner and completely change your attitude to money can be quite a rude awakening. That’s why when in this situation we need a good DIY debt busting plan that will serve our financial purposes and no one else’s.

We need to have a strong goal in mind and an unstoppable drive to achieve that goal as quickly as our plan will allow us and without paying anyone else to do it for us.

A good, solid, workable DIY system is the best chance we really have seeing that the alternative is to fall prey to expensive consolidation loans and debt management programs and the worst of the worst – bad credit lenders – .

My plan is working well for me; do you have a DIY plan that is working for you?

Home Design When To Call In The Professionals

When you’re redesigning your home, the first question you need to ask yourself is whether you’re going to hire a professional or do it yourself. The answer depends on what you’re planning on doing.

There are plenty of things that you can do yourself quickly and easily: painting, putting up shelves and cupboards, all that kind of thing. Anything you can find in the DIY shop will come with instructions that should let anyone who is reasonably experienced in DIY put it up.

However, if you want to do something more complicated – converting a room into a bathroom or a kitchen, or building an extension, for example – then you’re going to need a professional.

When it comes to home design, however, it can be tough to know exactly who to hire. For basic things, you need a handyman, but for more complex projects you might need a builder. To do anything in the bathroom, you probably need a plumber. If you’re giving your whole house a makeover, you might even want to hire a professional designer, who will look at the overall picture and come up with ideas to make your house a better place to live in.

While pro designers can be expensive, they are usually worth the money – you wouldn’t think it from the amateur jobs you see on some TV makeover shows, but they really do know what they’re doing. There are some cowboys out there, though, so make sure the person you’re used has all the relevant qualifications: it’s best to ask for references, as that means you can go and see for yourself houses that they have worked on previously, and see if you like them. Be careful on judging them simply because they’re not your taste, however – remember that a good designer will reflect what the people asked for, not just force their own tastes on people.

Power Tool Safety Equipment

Power tools make the projects we engage in much easier to accomplish. These projects can be at work, home, or the office. Regardless of the setting or the project, power tool safety is something everyone needs to abide by. While power tools are very helpful, they are also sharp. Serious injury and even death can occur if you don’t use them properly.

While most businesses require employees to use the right safety equipment when operating power tools, there is nothing to regulate this process when you use them at home. Many individuals fail to use the proper safety equipment because they don’t want the added expense of purchasing it. Have you seen the prices of power tool safety equipment? It is less expensive than the cost of a medical visit. Others choose not to use safety equipment because they are in a hurry or because they are very comfortable using particular power tools.

The specific safety equipment you will need depends on the power tool you are operating. Each instruction manual will have information on the recommended safety equipment you should have on when you operate that power tool. There are several common safety items you should have readily available.

Safety goggles are essential. There is always the chance of dirt, debris, or fragments of materials getting into your eyes. Sometimes saw blades break and pieces fly into the air. Protecting your eyes is very important. Heavy duty work gloves are good to have if you are working with any sharp objects including sheet metal. A full face shield will protect even more when you are using certain power tools.

The proper clothing is very important too. It is a good idea to wear long sleeves to prevent burns and cuts, but make sure that the clothing isn’t too loose. If it is, you risk it getting tangled up with the power tool. Tuck in shirts and only wear clothing that fits you properly. Pay attention to your shoes as well. Make sure they have a non-slip sole. For some power tools, it is a good idea to wear steel toed boots while operating them.

Some power tools are very loud. You will want to wear ear plugs or other ear protection. Hearing loss is a serious issue, and you should do all you can to maintain your current hearing level. A respirator is a good idea if you will be working with any power tool that creates dust including sanders and routers. It is a good idea to make sure you have a source of fresh air getting into your work area as well. A respirator ensures you won’t be inhaling harmful chemicals or dust that is generated.

Power tools definitely are fun to use and reduce the time it takes to complete a project. However, it is essential that you take the time to wear the proper safety equipment when you operate them. The investment is well worth saving your from injuries or even death. It doesn’t matter how careful you are, how many times you have used the power tool before, how big of a hurry you are in, or how small of a job it is. Accidents involving power tools happen in a split second, so do your best to prepare for them.

The Power Tools Everyone Should Own and Why

Owning your own power tools is much easier than having to rent them or buy them when a household project comes up. It is much cheaper than hiring someone else to do the work if you are able to do it yourself. Since power tools aren’t cheap, you can reduce the expense and still accomplish most day to day projects at home with these tools. They are versatile and can be used for a variety of jobs.

A power screwdriver may not seem essential, but for those of us who have fought endlessly to get a screw in our out of somewhere in the home, we know all too well what a luxury they can be. It just a few seconds you can get that screw out of the wall or put in anchor screws to hang up picture frames. I keep my power screwdriver fully charged and ready to go. It is the power tool I reach for the most. Since they come with a tip that can be changed from Phillips to a flat head, there is no need to have any other screwdriver around.

A power drill, either with a cord or without, is very versatile. The biggest investment here is going to be on the various drill bits that you will need. The size and the type of drill bits you need depend on the project. You can purchase them individually, but you will get a better deal if you purchase an assortment that are sold in a package. Just make sure you only use the right drill bit for the type of drill you have and for the type of material you are drilling into.

Saws are the most commonly used of the power tools out there. You should purchase four different types of saws, and you will be set to take on most any project. A miter saw is fairly inexpensive. It works well for cutting angles on the edges of wood and other materials. This is great for getting the perfect fit on the corners on the first try. A jigsaw is great for placing circular cuts and square cut outs. One of the most common uses for a jigsaw is to cut out the power outlet when installing paneling. Most jigsaws are adaptable for a variety of saw blades and are easy to handle.

A circular saw is great for a variety of projects. You need to be very careful with a circular saw as many power tool injuries occur with this particular power tool. Always use a circular saw with a safety guard attached to it. Circular saws cut through most any kind of materials if you use the right saw blades. They can also cut through thick materials. You will also get a very smooth cut with a circular saw.

A table saw is usually an expensive power tool to invest in, but it will be very handy and last for years. It will only take a couple of ties using it to be glad you purchased one. There are many things you can do with a table saw. It is very helpful when you are cutting long pieces of material or heavy materials because you have a table to balance the weight on. It is also great for join pieces and getting a very straight cut.

These next two items are debated as to their necessity when it comes to power tools. It really depends on your preference and the types of projects you will be doing. A sander that works with or against the grain is something I recommend if you will be doing any type of sanding. This can be on a vehicle, furniture, or a number of other projects. Having a power sander is going to save you hours or even days of sanding by hand, depending on the size of the project. You will also get a nicer finish. Make sure you use the right grade of sandpaper. Start of with a very coarse grade and finish up with a finer grade for a very smooth finish.

A router is a great tool for detail work. If you will be engraving or doing finishing work, this is the tool you don’t want to be without. There are so many accessories for routers that you can be very creative with your designing.

While the power tools you purchase are completely up to you, this is a list of the ones that you should have as well as a brief explanation why. With these tools on hand, you will be ready to tackle a variety of household projects that are sure to materialize over the course of time.

Get your Project Done Quicker with a Power Nailer

The days of spending your time hammering long nails to complete your project are over! No more wasted time or sore arms from the repetitive motion. A power nailer will get the job done fast and efficiently. It is a great way to ensure every nail is secure as well as straight. You can sink thousands of nails in a single day with a power nailer. It is great for large projects such as roofing.

There are two types of power nailers to choose from. A stick power nailer uses a strip of nails that slide into the nailer, just like you load a stapler. The amount of nails it can hold at one time varies. On average, it is approximately 50 nails. This type of power nailer is great for small projects. For larger tasks, consider using a coil power nailer. They hold up to 300 nails at a time.

It is very important that you use the proper power nailer for your particular project. It is best to select a power nailer that is versatile, unless you have specific ongoing use for a particular type of power nailer. Where you plan to use the power nailer is something to consider as well. Do you have a power source readily available or will you be better off going with a cordless power nailer model?

Pneumatic power nailers operate with air pressure that is supplied by a small air compressor. If you choose this type of power nailer, make sure you have an air compressor that is sufficient to handle the power of the power tool. You should check the amount of pressure necessary to operate the power nailer before purchasing.

Since power nailers are often used for roofing and other construction work, you might consider getting a cordless model. They often are just as powerful as the models that operate on compressed air. They come with very effective batteries that are long lasting. Some operate with a compressed gas in a canister. Both types are very effective, so it is a personal preference. It also depends on if you want to hassle with recharging the battery.

To help you decide on the best model of power nailer for your needs, consider these features. Make sure any power nailer offers you what you will need to complete your particular project. Find out if the power nailer has a jam release. You don’t want to stop working throughout the day to spend time figuring out how to unjam the power nailer.

You will want a power nailer that offers you an adjustable depth controller. This is because you will want to use it for different length of nails. It will also help you get the nails sunk in even with the surface of the project or even countersink them.

Since the reasoning behind purchasing a power nailer is to give you the ability to put in large quantities of nails in a short amount of time, it should be easier to control. You want to select a power nailer that fits well in your hands and has a good fit. A heavy power nailer can be difficult to operate for long periods of time. How easy is it to load the nails into the power nailer? You want one that is very efficient. You should be able to reload it, even with work gloves on, in just a few seconds.

There are many different types of nails you can choose from. For the best results, make sure the nails you are using work well in your model of power nailer as well as for the particular project you are working on. You should always wear protective eye wear and work gloves while operating any type of power nailer. It is a good idea to purchase a power nailer that offers some sort of guard for your protection as well.
